3 Common Questions People Have About Barber College

Blog

If you like the thought of cutting hair and much more than barber school may be the right place for you. However, if you are thinking about going to barber school, but have some important questions, you should definitely look into them. Being a barber is an excellent profession, but knowing the details of the courses before you begin can be incredibly helpful. This article will discuss 3 common questions that people have about barber college

What will you learn in barber school?

During barber school you will learn how to cut and style both men's and women's hair, however, your main focus will be on men's hair. You will first spend a great deal of time learning in a classroom, and then you will be moved to the floor to practice on your mannequin and on volunteer clients. Barber school teachers will also teach their students how to shave men's faces. When you attend barber school for the basic course, you will not learn how to color and perm hair. However, if you decide that you would like to learn how to do these things, you can sign up for more classes and become qualified to do these things as well.

How long does it take to become a licensed barber?

The answer to this question is going to vary whether you are a full time or part time student. Most schools require you to complete 900 hours of courses. This will include both classroom and practical hours. If you are a full time student, this generally takes about 6 months to complete. However, if you are only going to school part time, it will likely take you 9-12 months to complete the entire course. The nice thing about being able to do part time or full time school is the fact that you can make it work with your own schedule.

Can I get financial aid in barber school?

Just like most other trade schools, financial aid is offered. You will simply need to apply for financial aid through FAFSA, which is a government based website that has all schools linked to it. If you qualify for financial aid, you have the option of receiving both a pell grant and a student loan. The pell grant will not need to be paid back, but the student loan will. Some barber schools also offer scholarships for a variety of different reasons, so be sure to apply for those as well.

getting inspired to go to trade school

Are you happy with your job? Do you have a career or just a job that you go to each day to earn a buck? I was working as a waiter at a local pub for about five years. I had no idea how much better things could be for me until I talked with a customer about how he went to a trade school, learned a trade, and began a real career. That was the beginning of my next journey in life. I created my blog to help others that feel trapped in their jobs and don't feel as if they have anywhere to go. It is my hope that I can inspire others the way that my customer inspired me.
